It still sounds weird. The parent-id according to example in the spec, https://www.w3.org/TR/trace-context/#mutating-the-traceparent-field, is mutable and act like a local transaction-id rather than any lasting parental identification value.
Only the trace-id part is truly immutable and propagated across systems.
